Stoodley Pike Painting

Posted by Julia Ogden on

This week I finished my painting of Stoodley Pike. It began life in one of my classes, where I was teaching landscape painting. The photograph kindly supplied by my student! I loved the mist in the photograph and the foliage framing it. I carried on in spots and spurts, layering colours, looking for shadows in the mist. It took a while to get the pink fresh looking while still blended with the blue! I have a competition to win a print of my painting on my Instagram and Facebook pages. All you need to do is suggest a title and...

In the Springtime..

Posted by Julia Ogden on

So along with people who have bought summer seating, spring clothes and barbecues, I have probably contributed to the snow this week as I decided at the beginning I would write a blog about my Spring paintings.. Screen printing

I was always very drawing rather...

I am easing back into working in my studio. I feel so blessed to have it; the windows are amazing. Obviously with lockdown it felt better to work at home, because I have a desk there and don't need much else. But I had a few collections to be there for, so I am enjoying the light, the blossom outside my window and the goldfinches at my bird feeder!  I have been in the studio about six years I think! It came about because I was looking for a place to teach my art classes. I knew the amazing Hannah Nunn...

Interior Design Masters

Posted by Julia Ogden on

I never knew when I painted this; that it would take on a life of its own. Last year I got a call from an interior designer explaining that she was currently filming Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr and would like to use one of my paintings in her design scheme. It was for a restaurant in my hometown; Chapter 17. I was flattered to be asked and Lynsey (Lynsey Ford Designs) was really lovely to work with. The process and end result can be seen on this episode. It is such a beautiful space and I can't wait to go and...
